Remaining Schedule for 2012 – Champoeg Yurt Trip, No November camping

Hi folks!The year is starting to wind down, and the weather here in Portland has finally turned and the clouds and rain are back.  Our primary ride leaders have conflicting events in these last 2 months of 2012 – new jobs for some of us who are unemployed, Cyclocross races for others, and Reed swallowing up another.  With those conflicts in mind, we’re reluctantly canceling the November trip up the Clackamas.  Keep an eye on our Facebook page and mailing list, however – there might be a last-minute camping addition in November if we luck out and get a really nice weekend and a ride leader is available.

December – the December trip to Champoeg has been moved from the first weekend to the second weekend so we do not conflict with Bikecraft.  The December trip to Champoeg will be a yurt trip – estimated cost per person is $15, and we’ll be meeting at the end of the Green Line MAX at Clackamas Town Center at 10am for a 36-ish mile ride to Champoeg via Oregon City, and returning the following day via Canby Ferry/West Linn and the newly-reopened Oregon City Bridge.  A detailed trip announcement is forthcoming, but we’ve already set up an Eventbrite registration for this trip – so if you want a yurt spot, sign up now. UPDATE: Champoeg yurt trip will be on Saturday December 8 from Clackamas Town Center MAX station (Green Line), return Sunday December 9 in late afternoon/evening. Each yurt sleeps five. Beds and mattresses are provided, but you’ll need to bring bedding (i.e. sleeping bag and pillow) and camping stoves if you go that route. Also, you’ll need to be comfortable sleeping in a room with potential friends you haven’t met yet. Think of it as sleeping in a hostel dorm. More info on Oregon State Parks yurts here.    -Shawn
