REMINDER: Champoeg yurt camping THIS WEEKEND (Sat Dec 8 and Sun Dec 9)

A yurt. In the wild, not Champoeg.

Hello, friends! Just a reminder that Cycle Wild’s last camping trip of the weekend will happen THIS WEEKEND! And while we can’t promise a warm and dry ride, we CAN promise a warm and dry place to end up!

We’ll be riding to Champoeg State Park (about 10 miles outside of Canby) on the beautiful Willamette River this Saturday, December 8th and returning to Portland on Sunday the 9th. The ride itself is a moderate one in terms of length, difficulty, and traffic, approximately 25-35 miles one-way from the Clackamas Town Center MAX station.

And yep, we’ll be staying in yurts, semi-permanent tents that sleep five! These yurts feature electric light and heat, a table and chairs, a bunk bed (sleeps two on bottom bunk, one on top), and a futon (sleeps two.)* If you are going, you’ll need to bring sleeping stuff (bag, pillow) but won’t need a tent nor sleeping pad/mat. Cooking will need to be done outside the yurt (you’ll need to bring a stove if you intend on cooking, they are not provided by the park.)
This trip requires REGISTRATION.  We currently have three yurts reserved, but because we don’t have enough to fill all three, we will most likely drop the number down to two…unless there’s enough people going! Please register ASAP via Eventbrite to secure yourself a spot. We would like to know NO LATER THAN NOON on Tuesday, so act now!

The details:

Sat Dec 7-Sun Dec 8
meet at Clackamas Town Center MAX at 10am
Estimated costs: $15 per person for yurt (1 night), bring own food, $2-$3 for firewood if we have a fire. Please remember that Cycle Wild does not charge for rides, these are the costs the park charges.

*Please note that due to the nature of the bed situation, if we fill up, people will have to sleep together in the double beds.
