Gear Lists

Minimum Gear List – Summer

  • Tent, hammock or tarp
  • Sleeping bag
  • Riding clothes
  • Extra layer(s) to stay warm in the evening
  • Sunscreen and lip balm
  • Food (enough for 3 meals / day)
  • Water (1-2L)
  • Multi-tool (or hex wrenches)
  • 2 spare tubes
  • patch kit
  • first-aid kit
  • Bike lights
  • Spare batteries for the lights
  • Bike w/ rear rack
  • Bags and/or bungies to secure everything
  • Map(s) of the area you’ll be riding in

Minimum Gear List – Winter

  • As above, plus the following:
  • Rain layer (jacket, pants, gloves)
  • Knit hat that covers the ears and/or balaclava
  • Shoe covers
  • Cold layer (long-sleeve shirt/jersey, pants)
  • Hand warmers (for emergency use)

    1. Good start on a list. Add: spoon spork, soap, towel, quarters for bathing (WA), whisky (to trade for food or other items left at home), ID, stove if not sharing.

      I suggest a little editing, like consistent formatting ( capitalisation or not of each line).
